Google search is a web search engine owned by Google Inc. and is the most-used search engine on the Web. Google receives several hundred million queries each day through its various services. Google search was originally developed by Larry Page and Sergey Brin in 1997. A Google search-results page is ordered by a priority rank called "PageRank" which is kept secret to avoid spammers from forcing their pages to the top.

Google WebSearch allows publishers to add a Google web search box to their web sites. Searches generated then show both Google's paid and unpaid listings. The publisher receives a share of all revenue generated from clicks on the paid listings.

The top searches of 2008 included a lot of queries about new technology, how to do things, and more detail on various topics. The more searches Google fields on any one subject, the more that particular subject can be tracked as a trend.

In reality, with all its faults, Google is still doing the best web search job on this planet. It is extremely hard to produce accurate search results with such enormous data and where people are everyday deliberately trying to pollute the results to their benefits. And Google is doing an admirable job at it.
